Major Beliefs in Islam

 Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!!

This is my first post ever in this blog. I am going to share with you guys about 6 Pillars of Faith (Iman) in Islam. As a Muslim, we are obligated to hold these beliefs and pillars as laid out in Quran and Sunnah.

What is Pillars of Faith?

Pillars of Faith is Pillar of Iman - the main pillar in Islam. It became an obligation to all Muslim to believe with it. Iman or faith literally means agreeing, believe, and certify. In Shariah meaning, it means agreeing with it in the heart, admitting it with the tongue and perceives the observance of obligatory acts as mandatory.

Whoever has this attribute is a Mu'min (for man) and Mu'minah (for woman).

What is the 6 Pillars of Faith?

1. Belief in Allah
  • Believing with full confidence that God is endowed with all the attributes of perfection.
  • Believing with full confidence that Allah SWT who created this world and He is the God who has the right to be worshiped and addressed to all dependents of life.
2. Belief in the existence of Angel
  • Angels are created of light with a distinctive form, intelligent but devoid of lust.
  • Believing that Allah SWT has messengers who are always obedient to carry out all his commands.
  • The names of angels: Jibril, Mikael, Ridhwan, Malek, Munkar, Nakir, Raqib, A'tid, Izrail, Israfil
3. Belief in the books of Allah
  • Scripture is a basic law that serves as a guide or teaching to human beings to be led
  • The book was given to the apostles.
  • The book is divided into two: suhuf & kitab
  • The books: Taurat, Zabur, Injil, Qur'an
4. Belief in Allah's Messengers
  • Meaning of the Prophet: A man who is independent and receives revelation from Allah but not assigned to convey it to others.
  • Meaning of Rasul: A man who is independent and receives revelation from Allah and is assigned to convey it to others.
  • The purpose Messenger is sent: to invite the people to worship God and uphold His religion.
5. Belief in the Day of Judgement
  • Allah has set a certain period for the whole universe, whose end will be the final hour.
  • Humans will be questioned about their deeds in this world.
  • Those deeds will be weighed for them. One whose good deeds overweigh his evil deeds will prosper, while whose bad deeds outweigh his good ones will be condemned to hellfire – unless he died in the state of Islam.
6. Belief in the Qadhaa' and Qadr
  • Qadhaa’ is something that has been decided by Allah SWT for all His creations, whether it is in terms of its creation, destruction or changes.
  • Qadr is something that has been set at a certain amount since the beginning of time, so that it follows His knowledge which precedes everything.

What is the wisdom of believing in the pillars of faith?
  1. Believe in the oneness and power of Allah SWT.
  2. Creating a harmonious family, loving & working together.
  3. Allah bless the country.
  4. Obey all of God's commands and abandon His prohibitions.
  5. Encourage to do good.
